Solar Thermal Heating Systems

What is a solar thermal heating system?

Solar Thermal Energy is created by using energy from the sunlight using Solar Collectors in the form of Tubes or Panels. Our Solar heaters are the perfect energy-saving heating system. These collectors can be positioned on the roof, or on frames at the rear or side of your property. The energy stored by the collectors is then used to heat the water in a hot water cylinder.

The Energy Savings Trust found in 2015 typical savings of £65 per year when replacing gas heating and £75 per year when replacing electric immersion heating.

Ground Source Heat Pumps qualify for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) Programme and a typical 4 person house in 2015 would receive £335 per annum.

The products that we supply to our customers support the use of a sustainable energy source. They offer the highest levels of reliability, durability and efficiency and they provide a comprehensive solution to make your home as eco-friendly as possible.

A solar thermal heating system is designed to make use of the heat from the sun to warm the water in your home. Solar systems can be supported with an immersion heater or boiler to ensure that you have hot water on demand.

The benefits and disadvantages of solar thermal energy:

Benefits

  • Lowers fuel bills in comparison to conventional heating methods
  • Income from the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) Scheme
  • Lower carbon footprint
  • Heats your water
  • Low maintenance

Disadvantages

  • They must be positioned correctly to work properly. Ideally, they should face East to West through South to collect enough sunlight over the course of the day to function as they need to
  • When no sunlight is available an immersion heater must be used to heat the water
